QuickBooks Online Tip: Clean Up Customer Balances

Your customers are the backbone of your business.

But messy balances in QuickBooks Online can make things confusing.

That’s why a regular review of the Customer Center is so important.

In QuickBooks Online, you can quickly see:

  • Unbilled income
  • Overdue invoices
  • Open credits

You can also run an Accounts Receivable report to spot issues.

Now—what do you do with those balances?

If it’s collectible, send reminders or follow up.If it needs to be cleared, you may need a Credit Memo or Refund.

👉 A Credit Memo is used when a customer cancels an order or wants the balance applied to a future purchase.

👉 A Refund is used when money is returned directly to the customer’s payment method.

Cleaning up balances keeps your books accurate, your customers happy, and your accounts receivable under control.
